Do You Have Unwanted Household Hazardous Waste (HHW)?

Date: Saturday, July 13, 2024 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Location: 519 Union Street (Public Works)

  • 220-pound waste limit per household or business (Call 907-586-4447 if you have more)
  • Do not mix wastes.
  • Do not remove labels.
  • No PCBs
  • No Asbestos

What to bring: Poisons, pesticides, herbicides, fertilizer, solvents, drain cleaner, oil based paint, paint thinner, wood strippers, sealers, acids, aerosols, caustics, corrosive materials, compressed
gas containers, Ni-Cad and lithium batteries and hazardous chemicals.

Please DO NOT BRING explosives, blasting caps/gun powder, infectious waste, radioactive
waste, light bulbs, PCBs or asbestos.

Note about batteries: Non-rechargeable alkaline batteries are not considered hazardous
and can be safely disposed of in the household trash; button batteries and rechargeable
batteries containing heavy metals are hazardous and will be accepted at the collection
event. Car batteries and other lead acid batteries (do not drain) may be brought and will be collected by Big Foot for recycling.

Waste oil (do not combine!) may also be brought and will be collected by Big Foot for recycling- THANK YOU to Big Foot!
