Portage Cove Harbor Expansion Weekly Project Updates

In an effort to keep the public informed with regard to the Portage Cove Harbor Expansion Project, we will be providing weekly updates:

Week of August 28 – September 3, 2017
Portage Cove Harbor Expansion

Pacific Pile & Marine has completed harbor dredging and will begin installing the new breakwater. Pile driving work will begin at the entrance of the harbor and move south. There will be times when the harbor entrance will be closed off and vessel traffic will need to navigate south, around the large equipment barge, in order to enter the harbor. Please be mindful of the crane as it will be moving and supporting long sections of pile from the barge. All work has been completed on the Transient Float (F Float) and the Seaplane Float has been reinstalled and is available for use.

Vessels are encouraged to contact PPM if there are any questions with where to navigate. PPM can be reached on VHF channel 19. As always, harbor staff can be reached on channel 12 and 16.

Any question or concerns can be directed to the harbormaster, Shawn Bell, at 907-314-0173.

8/30/17 update: Be aware that the Navigational Aid for the entrance of the harbor has been removed. This will not be replaced until the breakwater extension is complete.
