Junk Car Removal Program

1. The Haines Borough will be gathering requests from community members to dispose of derelict vehicles. The Borough expects to remove 30 vehicles.

2. The community members will need the title to the vehicle and sign it over to the Borough.

3. The Borough will pick up the vehicle if it is road accessible with the Borough’s flatbed truck (Note: The flatbed truck is not four-wheel drive and we will not be using the ferry system).

4. Vehicles will be taken in order of payment/title received. There will no longer be a random drawing.

5. Community members will be required to pay a $50 fee to have the vehicle removed.

Note: Borough staff is researching a potential ordinance to remove abandoned vehicles without titles, in accordance with state law.
