Potential affect of upcoming solar storm

NOAA has contacted the Haines Borough to warn of potential affects from the upcoming Severe Geomagnetic Storm Watch currently in effect with an expected arrival midday today (Friday May 10) and persisting through the weekend. This is an unusual event.Only three Severe geomagnetic storms have been observed during this solar cycle, which began in December 2019. 

This solar storm could affect HF Radio, GPS and other satellite navigation and other technologies.
