Planning and Zoning Technician I or II

Are you ready to dive in to land use issues and assist your community?  The Haines Borough is looking for the right person to join our team as a Planning and Zoning Technician.

The Haines Borough is accepting applications for a permanent, full-time Planning & Zoning Technician I or II. The position is a full-time, benefited, union eligible position in the Lands, Assessment and Planning Department. This may be an entry-level position but previous experience is a plus. This employee is responsible for assisting with land use, development, and community planning in the Borough. This position is the first point of contact for the public on issues related to permitting, enforcement, subdivision, and zoning.

Minimum Qualifications: High School graduate (or equivalent), Alaska driver’s license (or ability to acquire one within 30 days) is required.  Experience in municipal planning and administration as well as familiarity with regulations and enforcement of state and local laws is preferred.

What we offer:  Wage is $20.87 - $25.60 DOE with excellent benefits including generous personal leave, medical, dental, vision and prescription drug benefits and PERS retirement (fully benefited value of approximately $76,617 - $89,427 per year).
