Safe Streets for Haines

Safe Streets for Haines is a community-driven effort to make travel safer for everyone, whether you walk, bike, roll, drive, or ride.

Safe Streets for All is a nationwide program created by the Department of Transportation to help communities eliminate serious and fatal transportation crashes. It supports community efforts to implement Comprehensive Safety Action Plans, or strategies that use data, local knowledge, and community input to make travel safer for all.

Safe Streets for Haines is a partnership between the Haines Borough and the Chilkoot Indian Association, who applied in 2023 to receive federal funding to develop a Comprehensive Safety Action Plan.
